Elephant Parade
12 March 2020
On March 12, an open-air exhibition with 60 painted elephant sculptures, sponsored by Zurich Sotheby's International Realty, started in Rapperswil-Jona SG.
The hosts are Claudia and Franco Knie from the circus family. Besides many others, the British musician Phil Collins and the Swiss cabaret artist Emil Steinberger participated.
Claudia and Franco Knie brought the Elephant Parade® to Switzerland, which has so far been shown at 30 destinations. From Bangkok to London to Rio de Janeiro.
He wanted to sensitize people to the situation of the elephants. Franco Knie is quoted as saying that he also wanted to make a contribution to protecting their living space.
The 60 elephants can be seen on the Fischmarktplatz in Rapperswil-Jona until April 26th. The exhibition later moves to Zurich Airport and is then shown in Zurich at the main station.
The sculptures will then be auctioned through Sotheby's and the proceeds will be passed on to projects in favor of Asian elephants.
