Municipality


It is easy to see why Männedorf is growing. In many places new housing developments shape the picture, while others are just beginning to emerge. In its history, Männedorf has never seen such a large increase in population as it has in the past years.

While the population of the canton of Zurich grew by an average of 6.8 percent between 1990 and 2000, that of Männedorf increased by a whopping 21.1% during the same period.

Männedorf convinced both the population, who have been living here for many years and the newcomers due to its attractive location on the lake, which guarantees plenty of sunshine, and tranquility. People who live here also mention the good relationships with their neighbors. 

Männedorf has also developed into a regional transport hub, with excellent S-Bahn connections  to Zurich and Rapperswil and a dense range of buses to the Zurich Oberland.

Männedorf has an extremely attractive local recreation area.

In terms of area, no municipality on the lake has more public lake areas than this community. And if you don't want to stroll by the lake, you will find wonderful walks in the nearby forest or vineyards. In Männedorf, wonderful hikes and long walks can be undertaken.

Those who prefer sports can get involved in one of the numerous sports clubs, from football clubs to women's gymnastics clubs. But also those interested in culture can choose from a variety of possibilities and offers from the areas of theater, singing and design. There are probably few municipalities with comparable population numbers that have so many active associations and groups.

Männedorf can also be proud of its cultural offer. The only cinema between Zurich and Rapperswil is located here, and the program of the "Wildenmann" cinema is known far beyond Mannedorf's borders.
