The Garden of Eden 6.5 Bedroom House with Views of Lake Zürich
CH-8805 Richterswil, Richterswil
Price upon request
Description
This lovely, 6.5-bedroom house with great views of Lake Zürich has a very generous plot size of 2034 m2. This property boasts one of the most beautiful and mature gardens in the Canton of Zürich and the outside area leaves nothing to be desired. Incredible views of Lake Zürich, the Etzel mountain and the huge neighbouring field allow for that holiday feeling right at home. The pond at the entrance of the property, filled with water lilies, gives a hint of what is yet to come.
There are a total of three entrances to this fascinating Art Deco house. One can enter the generous and bright downstairs foyer through the double garage or from the front door to the right of it. A separate entrance to a private bedroom suite is accessed to the left of the garage, up the stairs, and boasts its own terrace with views of Lake Zürich.
The foyer is flooded with natural light from the large windows and the atrium at the top of the staircase. This generous area has seating for changing shoes and space for a large built-in wardrobe. An inviting pearl-white spiral staircase leads upstairs and adds to the welcoming brightness of this entrance area. Past the foyer is a hallway, which provides the perfect area for a walk-in shoe closet for approximately 100 pairs of shoes. The bunker is accessed to the right of the hallway and provides even more storage space. Beyond the hallway you enter the hobby room, which could easily be turned into a generously-sized fitness/wellness area. The wine cellar just off of the hobby room can hold approximately 800 bottles of wine, but could easily be turned into a Finnish Sauna should one prefer.
Up the stairs in the entrance, one arrives in the living area of this spectacular property. Immediately to the left of the staircase is a space which could be made into a private apartment with very little effort. It would have two entry points, one from inside the house and the other from its own terrace. It would enjoy its own entrance area, with a door leading out onto the spacious double balcony, a bathroom with a shower/bath combination, and a master bedroom with a terrace enjoying views of Lake Zürich. To the right of the staircase is the guest WC, and next to that, the utility room, which conveniently leads into the kitchen area. The well-equipped eat-in kitchen offers plenty of options, with an additional breakfast area to the side and four points of entry: through the utility room, the hallway, the living room and from the outside terrace. The large living room offers exceptionally high ceilings, sleek parquet flooring and views of Lake Zürich and the surrounding greenery through the very large windows that are found throughout.
Upstairs is the sleeping area of the house. It has a total of four good-sized bedrooms, three of which share a large, separated balcony, while the fourth has superb views of Lake Zürich. This bedroom could easily be turned into a full bathroom, thus providing the three upstairs bedrooms with two generous bathrooms. The hallway of the upstairs area looks down to the living room from the gallery and creates a very open feel in this home.

Situation
Municipality
With around 13,600 inhabitants, Richterswil-Saturdayern is a reasonably size, and yet retains its rural character. The municipality used to be the traffic hub for pilgrims, who came to Richterswil in large numbers by boat and continued their journey from here on foot to Einsiedeln. Today, the municipality, with a historic center in the village, is an attractive place to live and work in the countryside, near the cities of Zürich, Zug, Schwyz and Rapperswil.
In addition to the wonderful historic village center, other special attractions are the Räbechilbi and the fountain. The fountain owes its existence to the industrial pioneer Rudolf Zinggeler, who built a two-kilometer-long water pressure pipe for his water turbine in the silk twisting mill. A by-product of this was the Richterswil fountain, which, at 101 meters, is the highest fountain in the world that is operated by sheer gravity, i.e. without a pump. The former director's villa on the Zinggeler site later became the Ugly private club, where the Rolling Stones, Frank Zappa and Herbie Hancock celebrated their after-parties. Yes, Richterswil has an extremely exciting history.
The traditional Räbechilbi even made it into the Guinness Book of Records in 2000, as the largest Räbenlichter parade in the world. Every year, 25 tons of vines are carved by associations, schools and residents for the parade and the Räbechilbi is lit up in the evening.
You have chosen our community as your place of residence and I hope that you will actively participate in our village and club life and maintain good neighborly contacts. In this way, your place of residence in Richterswil-Saturdayern will soon become your home and you will feel at home in our community. Marcel Tanner, Mayor
Access
The property can be entered through the main entrance on the ground floor or via the garage. These entry points can be reached very conveniently from either of the two parking areas, which both offer two parking spots.
An additional entrance up the stairs to the left of the garage leads to what could be a separate private apartment.
A road to the side of the property, which the new owners will have the right to use, provides access to the garden area and makes deliveries much easier.
Leisure time
Leisure time includes sport and culture as well as tourism and gastronomy. Richterswil and the surrounding area offer many leisure opportunities for you to enjoy.
